We Are The Subsuelo Crew
Subsuelo is a global bass crew based in Los Angeles that experiments with futuristic dance parties and old-school tropical music.
Last year, Subsuelo hit the road, performing on Boiler Room at the MoMA in New York City, at the Manana & Musicabana Festivals in Cuba, Supersonico in Los Angeles, Genius Loci in Mexico, Joshua Tree Music Festival, Northern Nights, Woogie Weekend, Boogaloo and other festivals.
Subsuelo started as a house party in Boyle Heights back in 2011 and evolved into a monthly performance at Eastside Luv where friends get down to cumbia, hip-hop, salsa, house, reggaeton, dancehall, baile funk, kuduro and all kinds of new weird global bass variations. Along with the DJs, Subsuelo also features a live flamenco band that performs traditional cante jondo and experiments with genre-bending fusions and collaborations.
Over the years Subsuelo has thrown parties with special guests ... Louie Vega, Cut Chemist, Ana Tijoux, Quantic, Nortec Collective, Dam-Funk, Novalima, Mexican Institute of Sound, Nickodemus, Money Mark, Toy Selectah, Chancha Via Circuito, Nu-Mark, Tittsworth, Mark de Clive-Lowe, Jeremy Sole, Mochilla, Sabo, Garth Trinidad, Buyepongo, Paul Devro, Anthony Valadez, Aceyalone, Boogaloo Assassins, Buraka Som Sistema and many more.
In 2015, Subsuelo teamed up with Late Night Laggers to start Calentura, a new global bass party that partnered with iconic salsa label Fania Records. The debut Calentura album featured Bomba Estereo, Tropkillaz, Dengue Dengue Dengue, Happy Colors, Nguzunguzu, Jose Marquez and Uproot Andy, and was featured in SPIN, Billboard, Complex, Boiler Room, XLR8R, KCRW and more.
Most recently, Subsuelo Presents celebrated the compilation release of Nickodemus' 'Turntables on Ipanema,' Los Rakas 'Grammy' Party, and the album release of Captain Planet and Chico Mann's collaboration 'Night Visions. Next big show is ... Cinco de Mayo at the Natural History Museum in LA.
